Let the creation begin.

A clean slate – oh, how it gleams with possibility! You stand there, gazing at it, filled with awe at the endless “what ifs” that dance in your mind. What can we create here? Where will it all go? It’s a bit like standing at the edge of an uncharted map, isn’t it? And the wild, wonderful question bubbles up: Are we a little bit crazy for taking this on? Maybe we are. But isn’t that the magic of starting something new? The blend of fear and excitement, uncertainty and hope, all swirled together like the beginning of a grand adventure.

So, where to start? Basecamp, of course! This house, this quirky little home of ours, is just right for now. Oh, there’s so much we could change, so many things to tweak and improve. But for the moment, it’s a perfect starting point. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got pages of ideas—pages filled with dreams of what could be. And then there are the ideas still floating around in my head, waiting for their time to come to life. But for now, this house will do. For now, it’s about making it ours—a place that feels like a reflection of who we are. A cozy, imperfect little haven.

Our land, though not vast, is full of potential, and its charms are already abundant. The dam, the forest, the creek that murmurs its way through the valley—each part feels like a treasure, each space a little world of its own. Down at the bottom, there’s a quiet oasis, a secluded spot full of its own kind of wonder. There’s so much to dream about here.

I’ve got big plans—dreams of growing trees and plants from seed and seedling, watching them grow, nurturing them into something beautiful. But, oh, the wildlife! The local creatures, cheeky and curious, have made themselves quite at home, and they do love to visit. (Sometimes, a little too much—you know what I mean?!) The challenge is, they’re enthusiastic about our little garden plans too! And while we love having them around, a little bit of peace for our plants would be lovely.

So, my clever hubby, with his trusty tools and inventive spirit, built a small enclosure to keep most of the overzealous critters at bay. There’s still a little patch where the wildlife can roam freely, a sort of no-man’s land where they can come and go as they please. It’s such a peaceful spot, actually—almost magical. The animals hang out, watching us from a distance, and we watch them right back. It’s like sharing a quiet moment with nature, a little space where we can all coexist, each in our own way.

One thing is certain: we may not have all the answers yet, but this journey, with all its twists and turns, is going to be something truly special. It’s all about taking this clean slate and turning it into something that feels like home. Something uniquely ours. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
