Where it all started - the love of sweet treats…

It’s always been a dream of mine to witness the aurora, that mystical dance of lights in the sky. But who could’ve imagined that I’d get to see it right outside our back door? There we stood, wide-eyed and breathless, as the dark night sky came alive with colors that defied description—shimmering greens, dazzling purples, and hints of electric blue. The lights moved in waves, graceful and hypnotic, as if the universe had let out a deep, joyful sigh and decided to show off for us.

The way the colors rippled and twisted, casting soft, otherworldly glows across the landscape, was as if someone had taken a paintbrush and swept it across the heavens, creating a masterpiece no canvas could ever hold. Each moment was fleeting yet infinite, the kind of beauty that sears itself into your memory and makes you feel small, humbled, and awestruck.

The crisp night air was filled with a hushed stillness, broken only by the whisper of the wind and the faint rustle of leaves. We could feel the magic tickling our skin, that rare and wonderful reminder that the world is full of hidden treasures, waiting to be discovered.

I stood there, trying to drink in every moment, knowing that the colors and movement would fade, but the memory would be etched in my heart forever. I’m determined to capture as many of these enchanting moments as possible so we can share the wonder with all of you, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll feel a touch of that magic too.

Plants love the sunshine too.

Plants love the sunshine too.

A year has fluttered by since we made the leap to the enchanting isle of Tassie, and what an adventure it’s been! We figured it was time to plant the seeds of our new chapter—literally. After all, if you’re going to set down roots (and we’re not just talking metaphorically), it’s never too early to start planting. It took nearly a whole year, but our leafy friends finally decided to show their gratitude with a burst of spring and summer cheer. Their lovely foliage and cheerful blooms are like a welcome party, complete with buzzing bees and dainty little birds who’ve come to join the celebration.

The view? Absolutely breathtaking. The smell? Divine. And the plants, still in their youth, are like eager little apprentices just waiting for the day they grow into their full glory. We can’t wait for the rest of our leafy ensemble—trees, shrubs, the whole gang—to catch up and complete the grand vision we have just beyond our front door. Every morning, as we sip our cups of coffee, we can imagine what this garden will become: a magical little slice of nature we get to enjoy with a smile and a sip.

Fences and wildlife.

Our little patch of paradise is a veritable wildlife wonderland! Wallabies, kangaroos, paddy melons, echidnas, quolls, platypuses, and an orchestra of feathered friends—they all visit our land like we’re the hottest spot in town. Sure, they’re adorable and add a touch of wild charm, but when it comes to starting a nursery, growing a veggie patch, and cultivating an orchard bursting with juicy fruits, it’s clear we needed to lay down the law—literally.

Enter fencing time! Our hero, Brett, bravely rolled up his sleeves and dove into the epic quest of building a fence. Now, this guy had never laid a fence before, but with the kind of determination you’d expect from someone who’s just found out he has an inner carpenter, he managed to do a stellar job. And just to up the ante, he even added a snazzy new front gate.

Voilà! We now have our very own human-exclusive zone and a wildlife-friendly wonderland where they can frolic in peace. Of course, every now and then, I spot curious critters casting longing glances over at our side, probably wondering what all the fuss is about. Do they dream of sneaking in for a taste of our backyard bounty? Who knows! But for now, everyone’s got their own slice of paradise, and that’s what matters.

Greenhouse goes up!

This my friend is an exciting moment, we now have a greenhouse.  A few hiccups along the way, missing parts, the winds of Tassie  took it down. So third time the charm was right, with much hesitation Brett started again, and now it's up we are so excited. It means more room to propagate plants and all the possibilities.

Let the creation begin.

A clean slate – oh, how it gleams with possibility! You stand there, gazing at it, filled with awe at the endless “what ifs” that dance in your mind. What can we create here? Where will it all go? It’s a bit like standing at the edge of an uncharted map, isn’t it? And the wild, wonderful question bubbles up: Are we a little bit crazy for taking this on? Maybe we are. But isn’t that the magic of starting something new? The blend of fear and excitement, uncertainty and hope, all swirled together like the beginning of a grand adventure.
